There is nothing sweeter than the sound of a delicate hammer chasing metal. I remember taking a chasing and repousse class and hearing about 10 or 12 people chasing with their hammers at the same time. It was reminiscent of chimes. I wish I could re-create that sound and play it in my studio – it was very meditative and purposeful.
So, making these line textures on the metal brings me back to that class. Depending on where I’m hammering and what I’m hammering on, it changes the sound. Can you hear it?
These silver buttons are 1/2″ in size. They are sold in groups of five. You can select if you’d like them with or without a patina as well as choosing the hole size needed. They come to you fully finished on the front as well as on the back – a small detail that you as well as your customers will appreciate. They are all made using .935 argentium sterling silver. These buttons work great with wrapped bracelets but are only limited by your creativity. A 1.9mm hole works best when using 1.5mm leather cord. But when using larger cord, I drill 3.0mm holes. Are you a knitter? I also make silver buttons in larger sizes. You can request that here. They are a fine addition and compliment to any of your handmade wearable art.
I carefully handcraft these buttons to give you a more modern, timeless choice that not just you will appreciate but your customers will love. If you choose to have a patina, I buff a layer of fine English museum wax that will protect and keep the rich patina for years to come. Because each button is handmade, there may be variations in what you see photographed – but the differences will be minimal.
