Years ago, I was inspired by the colors of satellite images that were taken of the earth. I was also inspired by the colorful sea life found in our oceans. So it was no coincidence when I found this enamel technique that I had to immerse myself in it. The colors of enamel can be very intense like the colors of nudibranch that grace our waters . . .
. . .or this crackling technique can have rootlike structures as seen in some photos of “earth as art”. The photo to the right was taken of the Nile river. It shows the farmland around the river separating the floodplain and the desert. It’s these intense colors and structures that have inspired me to use enamel as my palette.
